Hello! My name is Aaron Baughman; my wife, Patty, and I moved to Port Jervis in the fall of 2015, when I started my first call here at St. Peter’s. I was ordained here by the Metro New York Synod, and I could not imagine a better match for my family and I. Since moving here my wife and I have welcomed our daughter Lyric into the world in May of 2016, and we all enjoy hiking with our dog Acorn through the forests and mountains in the Tri-state area. My wife and I also love to host others, and in the first year of us living in Port Jervis we have hosted over 25 travelers from all over the world, including Germany, France, China, Taiwan, and Israel!
My wife and I are both originally from Ohio. Patty grew up in the Cleveland general area, and I grew up in around Columbus. Since then we both have lived in May different places. Patty lived in Florida for many years where she attended Salty Church, and traveled back and forth to Haiti on mission trips and delivering medical supplies. I also lived in the South for many years. I attended college at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina, where I received my bachelor’s degree in Environmental Education. I also have been blessed to have the opportunity to work at over 15 different year round environmental education centers and camps in places such as; Ohio, New York, New Mexico, and Alabama.
It was through my studies in environmental education and a study abroad experience in Thailand that I felt called to ministry and began attended Trinity Lutheran Seminary in the fall of 2010. Since then I have served at St. Peters in inner city Columbus, Grace in rural Centerburg, and St. Paul’s and St. John’s on the shore of Lake Erie in Lakeside/Marblehead, Ohio. I feel that the Spirit has brought us here to Port Jervis, and I feel that the Spirit is moving here. I am excited to see what direction Jesus Christ moves our community into new life!
