HOLY BAPTISM

In Holy Baptism the triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) delivers us from the forces of evil, puts our sinful self to death, gives us new birth, adopts us as children, and makes us members of the body of Christ, the church.
(Evangelical Lutheran Worship, pg. 225)
To the question, “What is baptism?”, the Small Catechisms says: ‘Baptism is not simply plain water. Instead, it is water used according to God’s command and connected with God’s Word.
God’s word says: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)
Baptism is a joyous invitation by a good and gracious God, to be in relationship with God and all believers.
We baptize all who come, seeking this once performed, but forever important Sacrament, welcoming children through adults.
We nurture the faith through instruction, support, prayer, and the opportunity for the baptized to participate fully in the life of this congregation.
