A Reconciling in Christ Congregation
Christian Education at St. Peter's Church
Sunday 9:30 – 10:00
Everyone, from the youngest to the oldest, will have the opportunity to gather in small groups and learn about, experience, talk about and share, the Christian faith that calls us to new life and teaches us how to live and embody the ideals of community.
It won’t be Sunday School as you may have experienced it in the past – no children sequestered memorizing incomprehensible texts while parents run for a cup of coffee or to errands. Education is as important for adults as it is for our young. If we wish our children to be excited about our faith, we have to be excited also and show them the behavior we wish them to emulate. That means, education time for all!
Children will have the opportunity to, in small, age appropriate groups, work on a craft, hear a story that further illustrates the day’s Gospel, or be involved in a mission project. At least every six weeks, the children will gather with older youth and adults and engage in an intergenerational event.
Adults will have the chance (with a cup of coffee, of course!) to engage in a Bible study, talk to others about the morning’s lessons, engage the pastor is discussion about Lutheranism, the church, church history, or any other spontaneous topic. We won’t forget mission and outreach either; are you impassioned about world hunger, or hunger in our community? Domestic violence or services for the elderly? You will have time to meet and plan with others during this time.
In our baptisms, we started an amazing journey; one that takes us into our lives with each other and with God. The Spirit guides our formation; during our time together we will learn all that God GRACIOUSLY offers us!
